This is one of the first poems I wrote and is one of my personal favorites!
As the sun tucks his light
away,
away,
To save for another day;
In blankets of lavender, pink, and gold.
The stars appear, and shimmer with light
Ever joyful and merry too, they shine so bright;
They are blanketed by velvet, away from the cold.
Under the sky in a room painted pink
A little girl watches, as the golden sun sinks
Smiling softly she climbs into bed,
And closing her eyes and bowing her head,
“Dear Jesus, I pray, I love you so much;
Please help me to sleep, without nightmares and such
Thank-you for sunsets and stars that shine,
And thank-you for listening to this prayer of mine.”
